If you're reading this, then you know me as your favorite neighborhood Yogi who loves being of service to her community.
Giving back is something I've always believed in. Normally, I'm quiet about that part of my life, but today I want to share the work that I'm doing and I want YOU to be a part of it.
Join me and Our Little Roses in supporting real change. Our Little Roses is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to rescuing young girls in Honduras from situations of risk. It's also my place of work, and I proudly serve as their Communications and Development Coordinator. Sometimes, I still can't believe that I get to wake up and make a difference with what I do everyday.
About Our Little Roses
Our Little Roses provides a safe space for these girls to be just that, girls! They have created the first and only all girls' home in San Pedro Sula, Honduras where little girls and young women can now escape abject poverty.
The focus of Our Little Roses is to empower these young girls through education and love in an atmosphere of unity, respect, and security to transform them into successful women.
In a country where only 7% of the Honduran population has achieved a high school-level education, 75% of the girls of Our Little Roses have graduated high school, moreover, 13% have gone on to achieve Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees.
At the moment, Our Little Roses in Honduras is home to 60+ young girls (ages 1 year to 26 years old) and counting.
Our Little Roses seeks to aid the girls and young women of Honduras to become elements of change in their community by providing them with the best education they can achieve. Through sponsorship, donations, and support Our Little Roses transforms, motivates, and empowers these girls to rise up out of poverty.
