During the month of May, when we honor all mothers, I’d like to recognize two of Our Little Roses’ incredible grads: Julia and Aurora. They are living out what it means to be nurturing caretakers for their families … And through your support, YOU have played an instrumental role in their journey!
As you know, Our Little Roses is a special place that has helped guide so many young women to become kind, compassionate people. We provide these at-risk girls with the tools of loving and nurturing so that they are prepared to share that same love and care with their own children.
Julia is a lovely woman who is raising two very bright girls. She came to Our Little Roses with her two sisters. Tragically, Julia’s husband died in 2021 of COVID-19. He was a smart young man, loving husband, and father whose life was cut short by the deadly virus. He left behind Julia with their little girls and a newly formed company. Yet Julia stands proud. She is a mother and a businesswoman who has persevered through some of the toughest tests that life can through at anyone! Julia has not only survived but thrived and is committed to imparting the greatest gifts any mother can give to their daughters - the gifts of education and values.
A true testament to courage, faith, and perseverance, Aurora was one of the first girls to come to Our Little Roses in 1988. She was in the first group to finish primary school and the first to graduate from university. Even through difficult times, Aurora held strong and eventually became an independent businesswoman and mother of two beautiful children. Aurora’s journey is truly remarkable! At Our Little Roses, she gained the knowledge and skills necessary to provide all of the basic needs when it came time to have a family of her own.
Aurora is living proof that with love and dedication, it’s possible to pay forward the blessings she received! Because of the kindness and support she received from friends like you, this strong woman has created a safe and loving home for her own children. My heart swells with pride knowing how hard Aurora works every day to make sure her family gets access to education and quality healthcare – and the “chain of good” that friends like YOU initiated.
It’s because of YOUR faithful generosity that all our girls at Our Little Roses are equipped for the future. Whether they are babies and toddlers whom we are nurturing or the preteens and teenage girls whom we are preparing for the future, YOU and your steady support change the trajectory of their lives.
I hope you realize how instrumental and how impactful you are in the lives of these girls in our care. The fruits of our joint efforts are truly remarkable – you can see it in the lives being lived out by Julia, Aurora, and others who your compassion has blessed.

It also makes the country an especially attractive ground for human traffickers, putting poor, abused and abandoned girls at extreme risk. The country's high poverty rate gives human traffickers an enormous opportunity to exploit people's needs for money. Children -- especially girls -- are a prime target.
